This is a combination blog and art.
A couple of years ago I spent an evening at a resort nestled in the redwood trees along the Russian River in Sonoma County (CA). The room faced the river and had a small deck off to the side. Without really thinking, I picked up my camera and walked out on the deck. Across the river were hills (mountains) with the fog cascading through the gap between the higher and lower elevations. I took a series of photographs. This photograph was, and is my favorite. It caught so much of the Zen-ness of the moment. Later, I remembered a passage from the Founder of Soto Zen in Japan, Dogen Zenji (1200-1253). I put his words and my photograph together. What resulted was, and is something special that still speaks to me every time I view it. I hope it speaks to you too? Copies are available upon request at a nominal price. Just let me know.
