Notes: Walking in a forest is considered a form of spiritual practice in Japan. It is called “Shintin-yoku.” Of course this is done beyond the shores of Japan. In many cultures time spent walking in a forest among trees and fauna is thought of as refreshing the body and soul.
Here in Northern California we do this when visiting our redwood forests. There is truly something magical about doing this. You leave feeling better about yourself, about life, about everything.
In this painting, I created a dense forest of bamboo. You wold need a path to walk through it. You can do this when viewing the painting with your imagination. See your path and it is there.
