Notes: I love this work. Everything came together when I painted it. The consistency of the watercolor paint. The brush was cooperating (sometimes they don’t), and the paper was such a joy to work on.
The scene is a composite of many memories I have from the (American) East Coast and Midwest during the cold, stark winter months when there are these beautiful muted blues and grays. The copse of trees could be in a barren field, or by a body of water. That is for the viewer to decide. The English Christmas Carol comes to mind: “In the Bleak Midwinter…” (based on a poem by Christina Rossetti).
I would recommend framing this with a black lacquer frame with a black silk lining. That’s how I see it. But the choice is yours after your purchase it. I would like to see a photograph of the work framed.
